Blocks

My classes are structured in what I call Blocks. A Block is a programme of 5/6 consecutive weekly classes which follow the school calendar and have distinctive features:

  • A BLOCK is designed to follow a specific THEME. The THEME inspires both the playlist and the choreographies I put together. My students love to come and dance “the theme” because it adds an extra factor that is exciting and motivating.

  • A BLOCK maintains unchanged the main body workout in terms of moves and fitness, allowing my students to familiarise with the routines. It is through repetition when students can add more intensity and progressively integrate more parts of their bodies into the workout!!

  • A BLOCK might change some of the music to refresh the class, by adjusting the choreographies to new songs with similar structures and bits!!

  • A BLOCK usually contains a Special Class! I always think of any special date, event, celebration that falls within the weeks the Block covers. FitDanZe will not let go the chance to make something unique of it!!

Have a look at my current/past BLOCKS and Special Classes below!!

Upcoming Block

IBIZA

After a cold and dark winter, here comes IBIZA, the beautiful Spanish Island in the Mediterranean Sea, a heaven for dance music and centre of the world for EDM music. It definitely deserved a place in FitDanZe’s Block collection!

Ibiza will bring such high energy, alternate periods of high intensity cardio and recovery ones and explore new planes of motion!! Our minds and bodies will get into the summer mood, your feet will not be able to stop and the music of Marshmello, Bizarrap, Tiësto, Sean Paul, Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, Jax Jones, Example, Avicii, among others, will take us there! And let’s not forget our Latin roots, always present in our salsa, reggaeton, merengue, cumbia, flamenco…! All in all, a MUST-DO!

Last Block

Around the World!!!: Part 2

Around the World!! and Around the World!!: Part 2 were both tributes to peace and tolerance and is dedicated to those that, for whatever reason, had to leave their countries and make a life somewhere else! They were high intensity Blocks, which incorporated more cardio-orientated dances than previous Blocks. We travelled through continents, countries. In each and every amazing musical hit, we mixed up latest dance trends + regional-folk-dance-steps + fitness & directional variations +  high energy + lots of fun. Around the World!!: Part 2 brought different languages, folk musical instruments, diversity and showed that, despite differences, we all dance to the same beat!

Previous Blocks

JUST SAY YES!!

This Block will always be very special to my: my first one!! The aim of this block was to show my students how it is very much possible to do a proper and intense workout while dancing and having so much fun! The playlist was made up of very well-known songs, all time hits, that all my students knew and sang along while exercising! They were all very impressed about the intensity of the workout and how much they sweated! It was the beginning of our journey together!!

DIVAS

Within the 5 weeks this BLOCK covered, there was a very special date: MOTHER’S Day. therefore, there had to be a block dedicated to women! And that inspired DIVAS. Diva: any ordinary woman doing the best she can in her own little world and reality. The playlist was made up by female music icons: Madonna, Katy Perry, Tina Turner, Anne Marie, Sophie Ellis-Buxter, Olivia Rodrigo, Marta Santos, Rosalia, Celia Cruz, etc. Divas was a hit and was extended for another 5 weeks by popular demand!

DIVAS Special Class: Mother’s Day

Then Mother’s Day came and we celebrated it with a Special Class in each venue, during the week 4-10 March! The main workout body hardly changed but the music did, with some of DIVAS’s choreographies slightly adjusted for the occasion to songs dedicated to mothers, like “Mom” by Meghan Trainor!

WE’VE GOT SPIRIT

My spring BLOCK! Quite depressing weather forecast for the spring ahead and stressful time for students (GCSE’s, A levels, end-of-year Exams) and in turn, for some parents!! It was crucial to lift our spirits, which inspired my block, themed: WE’VE GOT SPIRIT!!, full of new and fun moves and songs that became hits at some point during springtime!! And within the block, a special celebration for teenagers and parents to destress themselves, where teens were invited to dance for free! See celebrations. It marked the beginning of some teenagers attending in my classes, which I love!

WE’VE GOT SPIRIT Special Class: Feria de Sevilla

La Feria de Seville, a beautiful Spanish traditional party, happened during the week 15-20 April, when we were just covering the spring Block. I wanted to show my students some of my roots with a special class dedicated to it! Some of the choreographies were adjusted to flamenco music. It was a very nice class which ended with a glass of the traditional Feria de Sevilla drink (Rebujito) and a toast for many more dances together!!!!

Let’s Hit the Beach!

The THEME of the last block before the summer break was LET’S HIT THE BEACH!! Pre-summer, that period of time when everyone wants to be fitter than ever!!

Let’s Hit the Beach was a mixture of all my dances right from the beginning of the year, adjusted to new music, specifically summer hits and taken a step forward in terms of energy, intensity and muscle toning! LET’S HIT THE BEACH so LET’S WORK HARDER!!

There was a Special Class within this BLOCK: A Tribute Class to two music icons: Taylor Swift was in London with “THE ERAS” tour and had to be at FitDanZe’s playlist, opening and closing our classes during the week 23-30 June!! An of course, Amy Winehouse was remembered, following the release of her biographical film “Back to Black”.

Let’s Go to the Movies

I enjoyed so much this Block, themed LET’S GO TO THE MOVIES!!! Amazing playlist, made up by soundtracks of very well-known movies and TV series: Back to Black, Money Heist, Flashdance, The Hunger Games, Footloose, La BAMBA, Tajones lejanos (Almodovar), Dance with Me, Dirty Dancing, Selena, Breaking Down, Grease, etc. The variety of music increased my room for maneuver in terms of dance styles and fitness variations!

2024!!

This was a very special Block for me since it closed FitDanZe’s first year!!!! I never expected such positive response from all of you. Thank you so much!

As opposed to other Blocks, when we had been travelling in time in terms of both music and dances, 2024!! focused on the year musical hits: either new releases, remixes, or songs that became viral. As we were in the 2020s, viral dance trends were incorporated, which showed the evolution of dance as a form expression.
